The typical German soldier, often call a storm trooper commonly held a fierce sense of loyalty to the Fatherland. Many had received military training as boys in the German Youth movements.
The German soldiers equipment was considered to be among the best in the world, its machine guns and pistols engineered to a very high standard. The German divisions stationed along the Normandy coast however did not comprise of its best soldiers, many of its defences were manned by reserve soldiers and those coming to the end of their active service.
